Kate Noakes is a designer maker based in Suffolk who works with furniture. She repurposes and revamps retired pieces of furniture to create something that is new and quirky. All of her pieces are one offs, and are usually commissions. To create the looks pictured, she practiced and perfected a process of inlaying metal with gesso. The results are gorgeous. Other than to add handles to wooden pieces of furniture, I would never have thought to combine the two materials. The finished pieces look nothing like the originals and are really visually stimulating. I’ve added a link to Kate’s website below.
